An oil tanker tracker is an online tool that shows the real-time positions of crude oil tankers on an interactive map, using data from the AIS (Automatic Identification System) network. Every commercial tanker over 300 gross tonnes is required to broadcast its identity, position, speed, and destination via AIS — and TankerMap collects and displays this data in near real time, updated every hour.

TankerMap tracks 3,201 crude oil tankers across all major vessel classes: VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers with 200,000+ DWT capacity), Suezmax tankers (120,000–200,000 DWT), and Aframax tankers (80,000–120,000 DWT). These ships carry crude oil from major export terminals in the Middle East, West Africa, Russia, and the Americas to refineries around the world.
