About Danish Straits
The Danish Straits are the maritime gateway between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. Tankers use the Great Belt and Oresund routes to carry crude oil, petroleum products, and other energy cargoes between Baltic ports and global markets.
TankerMap treats the Danish Straits as one combined corridor and confirms a transit from AIS evidence on both the Baltic and Kattegat approaches. The broad route definition covers the principal commercial passages without counting vessels that remain on only one side of the gateway.
The live zone and historical charts provide a consolidated view of tanker activity through this Baltic gateway, with daily counts split by tanker class.
