About Bosphorus Strait

The Bosphorus Strait connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara through Istanbul. It is the northern maritime gateway for tankers moving crude oil and petroleum products between Black Sea ports and international markets.

TankerMap confirms a Bosphorus transit only when AIS positions from the same vessel appear in approach zones at both the southern and northern entrances within 36 hours. This counts the Bosphorus itself without requiring the vessel to continue through the Dardanelles.

The live zone and daily series show crude, product, and LNG tanker activity through the Bosphorus and include vessels whose voyage starts or ends in the Sea of Marmara.

Other straits: Strait of Hormuz · Suez Canal · Strait of Malacca · bab-el-mandeb · Strait of Gibraltar · Panama Canal · Danish Straits · Cape of Good Hope
