About Wilhelmshaven LNG

Germany's first LNG import terminal, commissioned in record time in December 2022 following Russia's cut of pipeline gas supplies to Europe. Located at the deep-water port of Wilhelmshaven on Germany's North Sea coast, it uses the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) "Höegh Esperanza". A permanent onshore terminal is planned for the same location. Wilhelmshaven is one of several emergency FSRU terminals Germany deployed in 2022-2023 (alongside Brunsbüttel and Lubmin) to diversify its gas supply away from Russian pipeline imports.
