The southern terminus of the Transalpine Pipeline (TAL), which delivers crude oil from the Adriatic Sea to refineries in Austria, Germany (Bavaria), and the Czech Republic. Trieste is the largest oil port in the Mediterranean by throughput and one of the most important crude oil import points in Europe.
