About Sodegaura LNG
Japan's largest LNG receiving terminal, located in Sodegaura, Chiba Prefecture, on Tokyo Bay. Operated by JERA (a joint venture of Tokyo Electric Power Company and Chubu Electric Power), the terminal has over 40 LNG tanks and receives cargoes from diverse global suppliers. Sodegaura feeds gas to the massive Futtsu thermal power complex and supplies gas to the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. Japan is historically the world's largest LNG importer, and Sodegaura has been a key facility since the 1970s.
