About Ras Laffan
The world's largest LNG export complex, located on Qatar's northeastern coast approximately 80 km north of Doha. Ras Laffan Industrial City serves as the export hub for Qatar's massive North Field gas reserves — the world's largest non-associated gas field shared with Iran. The terminal handles approximately 77 MTPA across multiple liquefaction trains operated by Qatargas and RasGas (now unified under QatarEnergy). With 14 dedicated LNG berths capable of accommodating Q-Max class vessels (the largest LNG carriers ever built at 345 meters length), Ras Laffan accounts for roughly 25-30% of global LNG trade. The North Field Expansion (NFE) and North Field South (NFS) projects will add approximately 48 MTPA by 2028-2029, cementing Qatar's position as the world's top LNG exporter.
