About Primorsk

Russia's largest crude oil export terminal on the Baltic Sea, located in Leningrad Oblast on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Primorsk is the terminus of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS-1), receiving Urals blend crude from Western Siberia and the Volga-Urals region. The terminal handles approximately 1.2-1.5 million barrels per day, loading primarily Aframax tankers due to depth restrictions in the Danish Straits. Primorsk was built in 2001 to reduce Russia's dependence on oil transit through the Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania) and has grown to become one of the largest oil export terminals in Europe. The terminal operates year-round with icebreaker support during winter months.
