About Damietta LNG
A single-train LNG export facility located at Damietta on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, near the Nile Delta. With a capacity of approximately 5 MTPA, the plant was idle from 2013 to 2021 due to Egypt's rising domestic gas demand. Following the development of major offshore gas discoveries (notably the Zohr field), Egypt resumed LNG exports from Damietta in early 2021. The plant is operated by SEGAS, a joint venture between Eni, Naturgy (formerly Union Fenosa Gas), and EGAS.
