About Bontang LNG

Located in East Kalimantan on Borneo's eastern coast, Bontang was once the world's largest LNG plant. The facility has eight trains with a nameplate capacity of approximately 22.8 MTPA, though production has declined significantly as legacy Mahakam Block gas fields have matured. Several trains are now idle or running below capacity. Operational since 1977, Bontang was a pioneer of the global LNG industry and historically supplied Japan's largest utilities.
