About Basrah Oil Terminal

Iraq's main crude oil export facility, located in the northern Persian Gulf approximately 50 km offshore from the Al-Fao peninsula. The terminal complex includes multiple Single Point Mooring (SPM) buoys — ABOT (Al Basra Oil Terminal) and KAAOT (Khor Al-Amaya Oil Terminal) — capable of loading VLCCs. Basrah exports approximately 3.3-3.5 million barrels per day, representing over 95% of Iraq's total oil exports and government revenue. The terminal handles Basrah Heavy and Basrah Medium crude grades.
