Delfin Midstream has approved a $5 billion floating LNG export project off the Louisiana coast, backed by Global Infrastructure Partners, MOL and Vitol, according to gCaptain. If completed, the development would become the first floating LNG export facility in the United States and one of the largest FLNG projects globally, giving LNG shipping a new offshore loading point on the US Gulf Coast.

For TankerMap, the shipping angle is direct: a green light for Delfin strengthens the long-term outlook for US seaborne LNG volumes, future carrier employment and Gulf export optionality beyond conventional onshore terminals. TankerMap data context: the platform tracks 1,033 LNG carriers and 155 ports globally, making new export nodes like offshore Louisiana material for route planning, vessel positioning and future Atlantic Basin LNG flows.
